("One night at a bar, an old friend tells director Ari Folman about a recurring nightmare in which he is chased by 26 vicious dogs. Every night, the same number of beasts. The two men conclude that there’s a connection to their Israeli Army mission in the first Lebanon War of the early eighties. Ari is surprised that he can't remember a thing anymore about that period of his life. Intrigued by this riddle, he decides to meet and interview old friends and comrades around the world. He needs to discover the truth about that time and about himself. As Ari delves deeper and deeper into the mystery, his memory begins to creep up in surreal images...")

Watchmen: Theatrical Cut
(43.4 GB - Paramount/Warner Home Video UK -
AVC/H.264 Video Codec - Region: A/B/C)
(Unlike the VC-1 US Director's Cut release, this is
an AVC encode.
If you look at Image 2 above, and Image 3 here:
http://www.cinemasquid.com/blu-ray/movies/screenshots/watchmen?movieid=9213
-- there's more details in for instance the flash bulb at the left, the face of
the guy at the far right, the police
officer's uniform (guy folding his hands), whereas the VC-1 disc has some
blocking [?].
Shots 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 12 are also exact frame matches.
Perhaps not a fair comparison as the US disc has the longer version, a "Maximum Movie Mode"
and a few other features.)

"Shot on HD."
With the increase in films and TV series shot with HD equipment, I figured I might go a bit "Blog-y" and ask you which HD-lensed films or shows you don't mind or even like.
Send along your titles on this site, a "cheat list" is available at http://www.pointzeropictures.com/films-tv-hd-and-s16.htm
And if any HD film/show ever surprised you, as in: "Was that shot in High-Def, really?" -- please make a note of it...

(Looks much better in motion, as always. Captures are intentionally a bit "dull" to avoid spoilers. Click here to read Miyazaki's eulogy for the film's late director, Yoshifumi Kondo.)

(IFC.com:
What led to you shooting in this fast-and-loose documentary style?
ARONOFSKY: My whole filmmaking training started in documentaries, and so I've
always had an interest in getting back to it. Right after I did "The Fountain,"
I wanted to go make a documentary or something that was less constructed -- more
natural. I was searching for a project, and sniffing around, "The Wrestler" fit
right in. The style of shooting also comes out of Mickey and the type of actor
he is.")
